Penn Manor CTC student Khaira Omari has won a statewide contest to design a youth suicide prevention poster.
Her design depicts black-and-white photos of nine smiling young people saying “You matter” in different languages. At the bottom, the poster reads, “Regardless of how you say it, you matter” and includes the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline 988 number.
Khaira, a junior enrolled in the Visual Communications Careers program at Lancaster County Career & Technology Center, placed first in the 2025 Youth Suicide Prevention Poster Contest, sponsored by Prevent Suicide PA.
Khaira said she wanted the poster to show “people, connections between smiles, and different languages. Whether you come from a different background or community, it’s important to be there for one another.”
“It’s important to care and keep seeing the people you love keep smiling because one day, you might not,” she said. “That’s why suicide prevention is important. Make every smile count.”
We congratulate Khaira for delivering this important message in such a powerful and creative way.
