Penn Manor Quiz Bowl team headed for Nationals

Congratulations to Penn Manor High School’s Quiz Bowl team, which recently qualified for national competition for the first time since 2019.

The team of Brady Mitchell (senior captain), junior Seth Gansner, and sophomores Natalie Aungst and Eliza Myer will be heading to the 2025 High School National Championships May 24 and 25 in Atlanta, Georgia.

Penn Manor qualified by placing in the top ranks of competitive Quiz Bowl tournaments throughout the season.

The team also is one win away from qualifying for the Final Four in WGAL’s Brainbusters competition. The Comets take on league champs Cedar Crest at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, April 26.

This year’s team has done well because of its balance, said Chris Meier, one of Penn Manor’s quiz bowl coaches. The other is Angelika Koerner.

“The team works very well together, and they are all experts in different subjects, so they are a very balanced team where everyone contributes. Throughout the season, they keep getting better,” Meier said.

“With three of the four players returning next year, and a number of talented younger players coming up, we hope to continue the winning tradition in future seasons.”

To help fund the trip to Nationals, the team is hosting fundraisers on April 29, from 4 to 8 p.m., at Tropical Smoothie, and all day on May 1 at Mod Pizza. Learn more

We wish the team luck as they continue to represent Penn Manor in upcoming competitions.
