A record 15 Penn Manor High School students have been selected to participate in the District 7 Chorus Festival, following auditions held October 28.
The students were among nearly 700 who tried out for 200 slots in the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association festival, to be held in January at ELCO High School.
The Penn Manor students were selected for the following parts:
Soprano 2 – Caroline Whitfield and Dana Raugh. Caroline placed eighth overall on her voice part.
Alto 1 – Bailey Floyd
Alto 2 – Madison Stringer and Ava Wolfersberger.
Tenor 1 – David Ferre, who placed fifth overall on his voice part.
Tenor 2 – Andrew Lebo and Cameron Thorne.
Bass 1 – Kaleb Kabakjian, Christian Lapp, Matthew Palmeri and Jordan Smith. Kaleb placed second and Christian placed eighth overall on their voice parts.
Bass 2 – James Helm and Matthew Perkins.
Piano accompaniment – Jordan Chen, who was one of only two students selected for this position.
In addition, Madelyn Stern missed qualifying by one ranking, so she will be the first alternate for the festival on the Soprano 2 voice part.
Penn Manor is among the schools with the highest number of students selected to participate in the festival, which will be held January 26 and 27.
The fifteen students may be a record high number for Penn Manor, said Lauren Ciemiewicz, high school choral director and music teacher.
Congratulations to Mrs. Ciemiewicz and these students.
